Leadership and expertise in non-metal materials for trauma fixation devices.

Traumatic orthopedic injuries have long been treated with internal fracture fixation implants composed of metals. However, a growing number of researchers and device manufacturers are seeking alternative materials that have the potential to improve implant performance and address growing concerns related to metal ions, corrosion and wear. Invibio has invested heavily in research and development programs that have yielded new PEEK polymer and composite technologies that present a novel alternative to metal in trauma fixation devices.

We are now ready to commercialize these technologies and build on our success in interbody fusion devices, where close partnerships with spinal device manufacturers have led to many innovative products made with PEEK-OPTIMA, the most commonly used material for these devices. Invibio experts are working closely with manufacturers of trauma implants to perfect the technology and develop new products. We welcome the opportunity to partner with innovative manufacturers interested in commercializing revolutionary PEEK-based trauma devices.

Our Trauma-centered offerings include:

  • Biomaterials that enable semi-rigid fixation with improved fatigue performance and radiolucency.
  • Development of new materials and processing technologies to increase implant design flexibility.
  • Application-specific research and testing advice for devices such as distal radius plates and intramedullary nails.
  • Prototyping, validation and manufacturing of PEEK polymer and composite medical devices.
  • A dedicated team with extensive experience in the trauma medical device industry.
